Features / Fonts

Over 1,700 fonts, free on every sign.

The whole open-source Google Fonts library is in the sign designer. Pick a style, from script and handwritten to retro, condensed and pixel, and every font in it is shown in its own lettering. Press one and your sign changes at once, so you can try ten in a minute.

Every font is on every plan, the free one included. All are open source, free to use on your business’s screens.

Choose the feel, then the font.

Popular, sans serif, serif, slab, script, handwritten, brush, display, bold and loud, condensed, rounded, elegant, retro and vintage, playful, techno, grunge, pixel, stencil, blackletter and monospace, plus fonts for Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Lunar New Year and Diwali. Here are a few, on real signs.

Every font, shown in itself

See it before you pick it.

Each style lists its fonts with their names written in that font, so a script looks like a script before you choose it. Search by name if you know the one you want. The fonts you used lately wait at the top, and your own brand fonts come first.

  • Weights from Thin to Black, where the font has them
  • A warning when a script font is too small to read across the room
  • The same fonts in menus, tickers, quotes, clocks and every widget

40 languages

Signs in your customers’ language.

Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, Thai, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and the other Indian scripts, Russian and Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese, Khmer, Burmese, Amharic, Georgian, Armenian and more, each with fonts made for it. Arabic reads right to left by itself, and a menu written in Arabic puts its prices on the left.

Pick a language

Each writing system, its own fonts.

Under Languages, each tile is written in its own script with its name under it. Open one to see the fonts for it, then type in that language straight onto the sign.

  • Words come in a word at a time in scripts whose letters join, so Arabic always reads as it should
  • Chinese, Japanese and Thai wrap and animate word by word, though they have no spaces
  • Arabic news tickers scroll the other way, in from the left

On the screen

Downloaded once, shown with no internet.

A screen downloads only the fonts its signs use, along with the sign, and keeps them. If the internet drops, every sign still shows in its own fonts. A Chinese, Japanese or Korean font carries its everyday characters, so it’s a few megabytes rather than twenty.

Have a font of your own? Add it to your brand kit and it sits at the top of every font list, beside these.

Questions

Anything else? Ask us.

Can I use these fonts on my business’s screens?

Yes. Every font is open source (the SIL Open Font License, Apache or Ubuntu Font Licence), free for commercial use, on signs, menus and anything else you show.

Which plan are they on?

All of them, the free one included. There’s no font that costs extra.

Do the screens need the internet to show them?

Only once. A screen downloads the fonts a sign uses with the sign and keeps them, so they show with no connection.

Can I use my own font?

Yes. Add up to ten font files to your brand kit (.woff2, .woff, .ttf or .otf). Only add fonts your licence lets you use on screens.

Does a split-flap board work in every language?

A split-flap board shows one character per tile, like an airport board, so it suits letters and numbers, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Scripts whose letters join, like Arabic, are better as ordinary text on a sign.

What if a character isn’t in the font?

The screen shows that character in its own font, so nothing is ever left blank.
