Styles / Pixel and LED

The glowing dot sign, on any TV.

The red scroller in a shop window, the amber board at a bus stop, the yellow discs on the front of a bus, a marquee of warm bulbs. Every dot drawn on its own, with words that scroll, pixel art that moves and the time kept by the screen itself.

Pixel boards come with Pro, on every screen in the account.

Try the looks

One board, seven ways to light it.

Any board can be LED in any colour, flip-dot or bulbs. Pick one and the whole board changes; the words and pictures stay as they are.

The classic shop window scroller: a soft halo round every dot.

The colour of a bus stop or a train platform board.

Bright and easy to read from across a car park.

Cool and modern, for a gym, a bar or a tech shop.

Crisp and plain, for words that need to be read first.

Discs that turn over with no glow, like the front of a bus. Changes ripple across the board.

Warm bulbs behind a grid, like a theatre marquee or a game show.

Ready-made

Fifteen boards, ready to light up.

Pick one, type your own words and it’s on your screen. Each has its own design for a TV hung on its side.

Pixel art

Pictures made of dots, that move.

Put a coffee cup, a beer, a slice of pizza or a space invader on the board, from Dislab’s own pixel art. Or make your own:

  • Draw it dot by dot in the sprite editor
  • Turn your logo or a photo into dots, in the board’s colour or its own
  • Type an emoji or a letter and it’s drawn in dots
  • Ask Dislab AI for “a steaming cup of coffee”, then Make it move: steam rising, a blink, a wave
Live on the board

It keeps itself up to date.

Put a live value on a board and it changes by itself. The time, the date and a countdown keep going with no internet; the weather and queue numbers update whenever the screen is online.

  • The time and the date, with seconds if you like
  • A countdown to a sale, a game or a launch
  • The temperature and the weather for your town
  • The Now serving number staff move on from a phone
  • Several messages shown in turn, each coming in its own way: scroll across, wipe, twinkle, snow in, roll up
Why it looks real

Built like the real thing, dot by dot.

Every dot is a dot

The board is a real grid, up to 192 dots across, each one lit or dark. Nothing is a photo of a sign.

Glow, discs or bulbs

LED dots carry a soft halo; flip-dots turn over with no glow; bulbs sit behind a grid, with a few blown if you like.

Smooth on a TV stick

Drawn on one canvas and timed by the clock, so a slow moment skips a step rather than slowing the board.

Works offline

The board, its pixel art and its clock are kept on each screen and keep going with no internet.

Questions

Anything else? Ask us.

Do I need an LED sign?

No. Any TV with a Fire TV stick, a Google TV or Android TV stick, or a browser shows the board. It looks like an LED sign on the TV, and you change it from your phone or computer.

Which plan is it on?

Pixel boards are part of Pro, like split-flap and menu boards. Every Pro screen can show them.

Can I use my own logo?

Yes. Choose a picture or a file and Dislab turns it into dots, in the board’s colour or in the picture’s own colours. A logo on a plain background works best; a busy photo turns into a blur at this size.

Can a board make a sound?

A flip-dot board can click as its discs turn, through the TV’s speakers. It’s off until you turn it on.

Can I put it beside other things on a sign?

Yes. A pixel board is one layer in the sign designer: make it the whole screen, or a strip under a photo or a menu.

Light up your first board.
