Set up an Amazon Signage Stick
Every planAmazon’s stick made for signage: it keeps Dislab in front and lets you switch the TV on and off and restart it from your console.
The Amazon Signage Stick is a Fire TV Stick 4K Max made for businesses. It runs one signage app in front all the time and opens it by itself, so there’s no Fire TV home to wander off to. In Australia it’s sold through Amazon’s signage resellers.
- Plug the stick into the TV’s HDMI port and its power adapter into a wall socket. Switch the TV to that input.
- Set it up with its remote, not the phone app, and join your Wi-Fi.
- When it asks for your signage app, choose Dislab. If Dislab isn’t offered, install it from the Appstore as on any Fire TV (see Set up a Fire TV stick).
- Open Dislab. If it asks to manage the stick, choose Allow: that’s what lets your console switch the TV and restart the stick.
- Pair it at app.dislab.app/pair with the code on the TV, as in Pairing a TV.
- Leave it on overnight the first time, so it can install Amazon’s updates.
Its screen page then has an Amazon Signage Stick card: the stick’s Wi-Fi, temperature, memory, storage and serial number, and buttons to switch the TV on and off, restart Dislab or the stick, and install updates. See Screenshots and remote controls. After hours, Turn the TV off switches the TV off at closing and on at opening.
Those controls start working once Amazon approves Dislab as a signage app (applied for). Until then the card says so, and the stick plays like any Fire TV stick. The Dislab menu on a Signage Stick has no Exit to TV home: the stick keeps Dislab in front.
