Which TV stick to use
Fire TV sticks with Fire OS, the Amazon Signage Stick, or an Android TV or Google TV stick. Amazon’s newest sticks use Vega OS and can’t run Dislab.
- Best: Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd gen, 2023) or Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd gen, 2023). Also Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025), Fire TV Stick HD (2024), Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV sticks from 2018 to 2024.
- Managed from your console: the Amazon Signage Stick, or an Android TV or Google TV stick set up for Dislab (see Android TV and Google TV sticks).
- Doesn’t work: Fire TV Stick 4K Select, Fire TV Stick HD (2026) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2026), which run Vega OS, and Fire TV sticks from before 2018.
The full list, by model code, is at dislab.app/features/tv-sticks. The model code is on the box, and in the stick’s Settings › My Fire TV › About.
Two sticks are called Fire TV Stick 4K: the 2023 one works, the 2026 one doesn’t. Check the year, or buy the 4K Max.
Any TV or monitor with an HDMI port will do. You need one stick per TV, and each one is a screen on your plan. No stick? A computer or iPad can be a screen too: see Using a computer as a screen.
